ENERGY KLIPPER-3 is executed according to the original multilayer scheme of cup-style Savonius and contains unique modules protected by 4 utility model patents in the Russian Federation, 2 application under the PCT, 1 application to USPTO. The following technical goals have been achieved: innovation, simple execution, stable electric current generation, improved torque and capacity, enhanced rotor resistance to self-oscillations, construction stability during storms and ice blasts.

ENERGY KLIPPER-3 starts generating power beginning with 4.0V (3 or more m/s) while the competitors require 12V (6.5 or more m/s), making ENERGY KLIPPER-3 ready to operate in the charging voltage of 4 to 12 V, which is unrivalled. ENERGY KLIPPER-3 is capable of generating power on an industrial scale with the wind speed just over 3 m/s. Actually, ENERGY KLIPPER-3 is the new VAWT type based on industrial waste, which serves as the key component and has a compensated carbon footprint. ENERGY KLIPPER-3 has practically no critical hi-tech modules prone to failure; it is easily scalable to mass production in a mechanic shop with low production culture;

The combination of low power generation starting wind speed (Scut-in), operation with wind speed >3 m/s, power accumulation using standard 12V LiFePO4 batteries, opportunity for direct power transformation into heat or cooling, opens up a new market segment that would be of interest to the end consumer.

Several ENERGY KLIPPER-3 are able to provide heat to a northern household without using electric batteries subject to seasonal wind. Several ENERGY KLIPPER-3 can be connected to a power generation cascade and feed power to a 220V grid. Our ENERGY KLIPPER-3 opens up competition in the new ECО-WT class that has practically no product propositions.

ENERGY KLIPPER-3 (Savonius, scoop type) with Scut-in >3 m/s can operate on 90% of the land with the average wind speeds of 3-5 m/s. As a result, VAWT has an unrivaled comfortable price.

ENERGY KLIPPER-3 estimated payback period is as follows (the number of windy days is 20, the power price is 0.3 $/kW).:

about 5 years with the wind speed of 4 m/s (Ptwind 0,4 kW at Srated of 4 m/s),

about 3 years with the wind speed of 6.5 m/s (Ptwind 0,96 kW at Srated of 6.5 m/s),

about 6 months with the wind speed of 11 m/s (Ptwind 3,22 kW at Srated of 11 m/s),

The estimated time of WT operation is 20 years. Our VAWT is not afraid of the snow or ice blasts, it easily withstands the storms after a quick alteration of the construction – temporary removal of several blades with subsequent reinstallation.

Short ENERGY KLIPPER-3 payback times ensure the interest to the creation of wind parks based on hundreds of turbines of this type in the regions with excess of wind, where the installation of HAWT >500 kW is complicated, or a Dissemination Generation Network is created (the generator is located close to the point of consumption). DG has a number of advantages in the areas, where the power transmission lines are lacking or impossible.

The choice of WT type (scoop Savonius) was made due to the prototype – the anemometer with semi-spheres for the control of the wind speed that has the maximum WPUF of 0.20. VAWT can be easily located in a flat roof. It can cope with weak wind on all sides and works well in turbulent conditions. Savonius starts autonomously and operates with the wind speeds just over 3 m/s. The VAWTs have low rotation speed, contain the minimal number of moving elements and requires practically no maintenance costs. Such a VAWT does not produce noise, which eliminates the issue of locating it close to the residential houses. A small area of 4 m² makes it possible to install ENERGY KLIPPER-3 at the level of the residential houses’ roofs or uninhabitable wastelands. Savonius has the effect of self-braking at the wind speed of over 12 m/s. ENERGY KLIPPER-3 does not have a lethal impact on the birds due to low rotation speed of the blades manufactured from recycled polyethylene.

The WTs may become the foundation of the following suites: mini, optimum, maxi for the consumers with any level of income. The proposed VAWT may be produced in any country from industrial waste and patented modules of the Manufacturer.

The calculations of VAWT capacity is the starting point of the project’s economic model. Whereas our VAWT does not have direct counterparts, we used mathematical models of the WT capacity calculations intended for Savonius (N.D.Shishkin, R.A.Ilyin 2018). The capacity calculations were made for turbine structure 2.

Depending on the operating conditions, ENERGY KLIPPER-3 may be used with one, two, three power generators depending on the package and terms of operation.

The calculations used these capacity values (Р) at the generator shaft in the following conditions: three blade layers, lever length higher than the diameter of the rotor gear box, the ratio of the capacity loss (b) in the “rotor-gear box-generator” chain is 0.5.

The strength properties of ENERGY KLIPPER-3 were calculated with account of the following values: moment of resistance of the round pipe, calculation of the bending limit, moment of inertia of the pipe, calculation of the turning angle and deflection, mechanic characteristics of the central axis (Steel 30). The structure of 3 m in height can operate with the wind speed of 30 m/s and after the removal of one layer – with the wind of 45 m/s. After the deletion of three layers of ENERGY KLIPPER-3 blades it can withstand the tropic storms.
